The Home of Diemersfontein wine in Australia

Diemersfontein is a vineyard located right below the breathtaking Hawekwa Mountains of South Africa. In the early 1940s, it was bought by Max Sonnenberg. Today, it is still owned by the Sonnenberg family who’ve set up a sophisticated wine estate that has been fêted for quite a few vintage products.

In addition to Pinotage, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Diemersfontein utilizes the more rarely used varieties like Roobernet, Barbera and Viognier.

One of the most illustrious products of Diemersfontein is Carpe Diem – an elegant, intensely fruit flavored wine that is not only a local favorite but has also caught the fancy of wine connoisseurs the world over. The popularity of the wine bears testimony to the rigorous scientific methodology employed in its manufacture. Fresh American and French oak barrels are used to allow the wine to mature and the period of maturation generally stretches to about a year and a half at the very least.

Beginning with the Paul Sauer Trophy at the South Africa Young Wine Show, Diemersfontein products have continued to bag countless awards. Perhaps it’s the excellent quality of the soil or the intricate process of manufacture or a combination of both factors that has conspired to help

Diemersfontein produce one of the most well balanced wines of South Africa.
