Kumkani
In the Xhosa language, the word Kumkani means ‘King’. The South African wine that goes by this name lives up to this image of royalty.
The region’s climate combined with the fertility of the soil is ideal for the growth of various cultivars. Add to this the expertise of a skilled winemaker and the product can be nothing short of spectacular. No wonder then, that Kumkani, in spite of being one of the recent entrants on the wine scene, is one of the star brands of South Africa. In fact, in the opinion of a few wine analysts, a later entry has proved advantageous to the brand.
Kumkani wines cover a wide spectrum of products – you have the Reflections line and the single and dual varietals; but the most impressive wines of all are the single vineyard variety. This is reflected in the various awards that this wine has won at home and elsewhere like the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge to name a few.
The Kumkani range is constantly looking for opportunities to reposition itself – this was evident in the recent changeover to a new style of packaging. The labeling and the entire look has been redesigned to be truly representative of what Kumkani stands for – a celebration of the vibrant culture and ethos of South Africa.
