Established in 1791 by German immigrant, Phillipus Wolvaart, these 49 hectares of Paarl valley were fruitful within six years. though revolutionary techniques such as cold fermentation Johann Grave who took ownership in1937 established Nederburg as the leading producer of quality south African wines. In 1956 Gunter Bruzel was appointed Nederburg winemaker and over the next half century he became something of a legend. He was the very first south African winner of the international wine & spirits competition winemaker of the year award. Also a pioneer, he introduced many important improvements to the vineyard management and wine making practices, later adapted by other industries. His exceptional technique and love for his craft have contributed to Nederburg claiming more awards than any other south African wine producer. Today, Nederburg prize-winning tradition continues as we make people love to drink. We match grape varieties with location to yield fine fruit flavours.
